Cake Requirements
3 boxes of cake mix
Eggs
Vegetable Oil
Water
4 cake pans
1 Pyrex bowl (1L or 1.5 L)

Grease Pyrex glass bowl and fill to about 3/4 full. Decrease oven temperature to 325 degrees and bake for 35-45 min. Let cool in bowl for 10 minutes. May need to use a knife to help loosen cake from bowl onto rack. Cool completely. After round cakes have cooled, use a serrated knife to level tops of cakes. Cut a small hole for Barbie to fit in into each of the cakes.
Buttercream Frosting allrecipes.com “Quick and Almost Professional Buttercream Icing Recipe” Ingredients
Butter
Confectioners sugar
Imitation clear vanilla extract
Icing color (gel)
Milk or cream
Pinch of salt
Wilton frosting bags
Closed star frosting tip
Directions I followed this recipe pretty closely. The most important step is the first, creaming the butter. Beat the daylights out of it! I had my mixer on high for quite a long time. Just when you think it’s fluffy enough, beat it some more! Slowly add sugar. Gradually add in small amount of milk. We did not use as much as recipe states. We made 2 batches for the cake. We were a bit short though, so I would make 3 next time. The first I thought the frosting was really sweet, so for the second batch, I used less sugar. Can make to your taste! Very flexible recipe. Threw in a bit of salt to taste.
When ready to assemble, place small amount of frosting onto each cake to stack. Wrap Barbie in plastic wrap up to her waist. Place Barbie in cake. Cut cake with serrated knife to shape of dress. Does not need to look perfect because it will be covered with frosting! Press hands onto cake to press any loose crumbs into cake. Refrigerate or freeze cake. This will make frosting it very easy (less crumble-y). Place a thin layer of frosting onto cake with an offset spatula. To add ruffle detail, place frosting tip into bag and add buttercream. Decorate skirt!
